Cornwall, NY

H. Kathryn Mele, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on May 8, 2018 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. She was 76 years old.

The daughter of the late Paul Post and Hazel (Smith) Post, Kathy was born on February 5, 1942 in Newburgh, NY.

Kathy was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years Louis A. Mele on April 2, 2015.

Kathy was a lifelong resident of Cornwall/Cornwall-on-Hudson who enjoyed travelling the east coast of the country with Lou and relished any time spent with her adored grandsons. She was also an avid doll collector.

Kathryn is survived by her son: William P. Gaffney of Fishkill, NY; her grandchildren: Andrew and Bill; her brother: Paul Post of Middletown, NY; her sister: Helen Post of Cornwall, NY. In addition to her husband, Kathy was predeceased by her brother Joseph Barnett and her sister Lorraine Trainor.

The family would like to thank Drs. Hughes, Joseph and Ruiz as well as the staff of St. Luke’s Hospital 4th Floor for providing tremendous care as well as genuine compassion during Kathy’s illness. Bessa, Rachel, Sue, Debbie, Adrienne, Nadine, Kelly, Sarah, Stacey and Tracy are all truly medical angels.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
