Obituary for Providencia Fernandez Cordero

PROVIDENCIA FERNANDEZ CORDERO
July 2, 1927 – April 2, 2019
New Windsor, NY

Providencia Fernandez Cordero, of New Windsor, NY entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2019 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. She was 91 years old.

The daughter of the late Juan Fernandez and Dionisea Castro Fernandez, Providencia was born on July 2, 1927 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

Providencia held two Master’s Degrees and for a short time was a Speech Pathologist. But her true calling in life was to be the wife of her Pastor husband, Manuel A. Cordero.

She was an active member of the Assemblies of God church.
A family statement reads: “A mother, pastor’s wife, teacher, preacher, speech pathologist, above all, a godly woman who feared the Lord. She leaves a legacy of strong faith and a life of prayer. She will be missed greatly.”

In addition to her parents, Providencia was predeceased by her loving husband. She is survived by her sons: Manuel A. Cordero and Pedro J. Cordero; her daughters: Damaris Cordero Carrisquillo, Iris Cordero Hernandez, and Miriam Cordero Velez; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 6th at Solid Rock Church, 20 Holloran Road, New Windsor, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. following the visitation at Solid Rock Church; Pastor Thomas F. Stimpson will officiate. Interment will take place in Los Copreses Memorial Park in Bayamon, Puerto Rico at a later date.
