Michael L. Plaviak, of New Windsor, NY entered into eternal rest on April 16, 2022 at the Joe Raso Hospice Home in New City, NY. He was 80 years old.

The son of the late Michael Plaviak and Pauline (Melillo) Plaviak, Michael was born on August 15, 1941, in the Bronx, NY. After graduating from Manhattan College in 1963, Michael went on to begin his career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Michael was a retired Manager and Chemist for Novartis in Suffern, NY. An accomplished marathon runner, Michael completed the NYC Marathon numerous times. He ran the Philadelphia Marathon to qualify for the Boston Marathon. In his free time, Michael enjoyed music, spending time with his family and pets and rooting for the NY Yankees, NY Jets and New Jersey Devils. He was a loyal parishioner of the St. Thomas of Canterbury Church.

Michael was a loving patriarch and dedicated provider for his family. His discipline and focus were admirable and evident in all aspects of his life. He will be missed greatly.

Michael is survived by his loving companion: Carol A. Malagoli at home; his daughters: Pauline (Plaviak) Noto and her husband Anthony of New Windsor, NY, and Nicole (Plaviak) Colarte of New Windsor, NY; his son: Michael L. Plaviak, Jr. and his wife Holly of Tallahassee, FL; his grandchildren: Anna Marie and Nicolette Plaviak, Michael and Sophia Colarte, Nicole and Lilliana Noto. Michael is also survived by his step granddaughter, Amber Malagoli and step great-grandson: Vance Malagoli; and by his sisters: Roseanne Hughes (Jack) of Monsey, NY and Laraine Marra (Artie) of New City, NY. Michael was predeceased by his stepson: Arthur Malagoli, Jr. Michael is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

Based on new CDC guidelines adopted by NYS, fully vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks or be socially distanced, but unvaccinated individuals must continue to wear masks and be socially distanced in the funeral home.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 28th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Steet, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Masks are not required but encouraged during the church service. Inurnment will follow the Mass at Cedar Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Newburgh, NY.
