Mary Josephine Ward, a resident of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY entered into eternal rest on September 23, 2022 peacefully at home. She was 84 years old.

The daughter of the late Patrick Coneran and Elizabeth Coneran (nee Connelly), Mary was born on May 20, 1938, in Kilcooley, Ballymoe, Castlerea, Co. Galway, Ireland.

Mary grew up in Ireland, moved to the United States where she started her family with James. They moved back to Ireland where they finished growing their family as well as owning their own business in Castlerea. Mary and James moved to Galway City where they finished raising their family before returning to New York City. Mary retired from the New York City Board of Education where she worked as a School Lunch Aid.

After retirement, Mary and James moved to Cornwall, New York to spend their final years together in the beautiful Hudson Valley. Mary loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially hosting those visiting from out of town. She is known for her kindness and hospitality both in the United States and Ireland.

Mary was predeceased by her husband James Ward in 2016. She is survived by her children: Lori Ward and her husband Michael O’Keefe, Brenda Mannion and her husband Vincent, and James Ward and his wife Pamela; her seven grandchildren: Ryan, Dylan, Tara, and Gavin Mannion, Sinead and Shane O’Keefe, and Kelly Ward; one great-grandson: Charlie Munoz; her brother: John Coneran and his wife Kathy; and by many nieces and nephews in Ireland and the United States. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by her brother: Patsy Coneran; and by her sister: Margaret Cuffe.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Thomas Cemetery.
