Obituary for Mary Ellen Pembleton (Randazzo)

Newburgh, NY
Mary Ellen Pembleton died on June 12, 2022 at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Dorothy C. (MacMorran) Randazzo. Mary Ellen was born in Cornwall Hospital on July 26, 1946. She was the widow of the late Harry R. Pembleton who predeceased her in 1992.
Mary Ellen has lived in and around the Cornwall area all of her life. She graduated from Cornwall Central High School, Orange County Community College earning an AA Degree, and Mount St. Mary College earning a BA Degree. She was awarded the Pastoral institute Award from Mount St. Mary’s College.
Mary Ellen was a long time active Member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she served as Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister, Altar Guild Director, Sunday School Superintendent, Vestry Member, Clerk of the Vestry and Church Secretary. She was also an Associate of the Order of St. Helena’s Convent. Mary Ellen was retired from the United States Military Academy where she worked in the Safety Office. She was an active Member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Cornwall Horse Thief Detecting Society.
Mary Ellen is survived by her daughter: Jenny Jo Salazar and her husband Jaime J. Salazar, Sr.; and by her four grandchildren, whom she loved most dearly: Kimberly, Benjamin, Jalynn and Jaime, Jr. She is also survived by her sister: Dorothy (Moochie) Petrose of Cornwall, NY; and by her brother: Nicholas E. Randazzo and his wife Joanne of Clermont, FL. She also had 14 wonderful nieces and nephews as well as many cousins.
Based on new CDC guidelines adopted by NYS, fully vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks or be socially distanced, but unvaccinated individuals must continue to wear masks and be socially distanced in the funeral home.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25th at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 66 Clinton Street, Cornwall, NY. Inurnment will follow the Service in the St. John’s Church Columbarium.
