New York, NY
SUMIN, Judith (née Visconti) died November 29, 2020 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. Judy was predeceased by her mother, Sonia Visconti and her beloved brother, Martin Visconti. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Louis, with whom she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on December 12th; her nieces Hope Visconti Peters (Tom), Robyn Visconti Bohall (Ken), her lifelong friend, Nina Siegel; nephews and nieces, Brett Peters, Sami Peters, Jonathan Peters, Sydney Bohall and Katelyn Bohall.
Judy lived a wonderful life filled with success no matter what she tackled. Professionally, she was an Elementary School Teacher at P.S 153 Bronx after graduating with a B.A. from Hunter College and eventually assuming Assistant Principal responsibilities before she retired. Judy’s next career was learning and mastering clay sculptures which were then bronzed. Judy won many juried prizes for her bronze sculpture, accolades and a one woman show at a gallery in the Hamptons. She and Lou took lots of wonderful vacations, especially many sailing adventures in the Caribbean. During the late ‘80’s and early ‘90’s they were both on the Executive Board of Make-A-Wish Metro Chapter and Judy was the Chair for the Wish Granting Committee. Perhaps Judy’s greatest joy ( other than Lou)and her Legends seats at Yankee Stadium, was her love of all dogs but especially their dogs; the Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Zuri l and Zuri ll and then the Red Poodles: Koby and most recently Coby!
Judy’s remains will be cremated.
We already miss her, Rest In Peace.......Covid is very real.
