Obituary for John M. "Jack" DuBois

JOHN “JACK” M. DuBOIS
July 3, 1947 – September 12, 2022
Wappingers Falls, NY

John “Jack” M. DuBois, a former resident of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on September 12, 2022 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He was 75 years old.

The son of the late Matthew DuBois and Emily (Whitington) DuBois, Jack was born on July 3, 1947 in Suffern, NY.

Jack honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1974, during the Vietnam Era.

Jack was a retired Social Studies teacher at the Haverstraw Middle School in the Haverstraw-Stony Point Central School District, Garnerville, NY. After retirement, he served for 10 years as the Enrollment Coordinator at the Purple Heart Hall of Honor in New Windsor, NY.

Jack was an active member of the Saint Thomas of Canterbury Parish, a husband, a father, a brother, an uncle, a friend and a dedicated educator of 30 years, who loved to watch Jeopardy and Seinfeld with his children, learning and laughing every night. He took pride in his gardens and in his home, and never met a dessert he didn’t like. He also read obituaries from time to time, and would probably say this one was boring. He will be greatly missed especially his sense of humor.

Jack is survived by his loving wife: Luz C. (Gonzalez); his sons: Nam Nguyen (Amy), Adrian Flores, Brennan DuBois; his daughter: Rebecca DuBois; two granddaughters: Melissa and Katherine; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brother: Matthew DuBois.

Due to the ongoing public health concerns about Covid-19, the family requires that masks be worn at all times during the Visitation and the Funeral Mass.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Interment with Military Honors will follow the Mass at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY at 11:45 a.m.
