Jean Frances Otlowski of Newburgh passed away November 5, 2018 at Sapphire Nursing Home at Meadow Hill. Jean was the daughter of the late Margaret Florczyk of Yonkers, NY and Cardwell Cherrix, of Chincoteague, VA, and was born in Yonkers, NY, August 8, 1928. She was a 1946 graduate of Commerce High School in Yonkers.
Jean married Casimir S. Otlowski of Yonkers on October 4, 1947 at St. Casimir’s Church in Yonkers, where they met singing in the choir.
Jean was a founding member and one of the inaugural dispatch team of the Town of Newburgh Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and an avid bowler. She sang in the choir at Meadow Hill Reformed Church and the Church of the Good Shepherd in Newburgh, and in several other chorales in the Newburgh area. She was a volunteer with the Red Cross and a Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1161.
Jean is survived by her daughter: Susan Moszak and her husband Gary of Ilion, NY; and her son: Steve and his wife Deborah of Newburgh; and grandchildren: Frank Lockwood and his wife Joanne of Coxsackie NY, Gwyneth Isaacson and her husband James of Harwinton, CT, Erica Gade Otlowski of Newburgh; and great-granddaughter: Adia Isaacson; and many cousins. In addition to her husband Casimir, Jean was predeceased by her sister Virginia Gade Wachter.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 10th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson NY. Inurnment and Services will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middle Hope, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Newburgh Volunteer Ambulance Corps or VFW Post 1161 Town of Newburgh.
