GEORGE P. EWANICH
July 18, 1953 – January 4, 2022
Cornwall, NY

George P. Ewanich, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on January 4, 2022 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 68 years old.

The son of the late George Ewanich and Mary J. (Makarewycz) Ewanich, George was born on July 18, 1953 in Cornwall, NY.

George was a retired Foreman for Central Hudson Gas & Electric in Newburgh, NY, where he worked for 42 years. He was active in IBEW 320, working as a shop steward and negotiating contracts.

During his retirement, he and his wife Liz traveled the around the USA, visiting old friends and family along the way. During the winter and early spring, he would tap the trees in his yard and make maple syrup, which was enjoyed by many.

A family statement reads: Interestingly, George was a simple, yet complex man. He was a hard worker, from the most menial task, to figuring out and fixing difficult mechanical issues. You always knew where you stood with George. He was direct and to the point, with no middle ground, but would melt like butter when it came to his family. He will be missed greatly by his many friends and his family. Many friends have great stories about George. Please take the time to submit any story you may have to georgepstories@gmail.com
