It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth A. Meechan announces her passing on November 21, 2018 at her home. She was 90 years old.

The daughter of the late John Patrick Kelly and Mary Kate (Gilligan) Kelly, Elizabeth was born on December 23, 1927 in New York City, NY.

Elizabeth was blessed with a strong faith. She loved to say the rosary everyday, praying for others, spending time with family, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and aunt. She was always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.”
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Susan Ponte and her husband Gary of Cornwall, NY; her son-in-law Joseph Curran of Yonkers, NY; her grandchildren: Kristin (Jonathon) Doyle, Andrew Ponte and Ryan Ponte; her great grandchildren: Emma and Jack Doyle; her sister and best friend: Ellen M. Morrissey of Cornwall, NY; and many loving nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by her first husband: Gilbert A Hoyt, Jr. in 1956, and her second husband Joseph F. Meechan in 1986. In addition to her husbands, Elizabeth was predeceased by her loving daughter: Elizabeth Curran; and her brothers: John Patrick and James Kelly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 1st at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Interment will take place at a later date in the family plot in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.

In lieu of donations, the family asks the donations be made the Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
