Obituary for Caleen M. Wilcox (Burns)

CALEEN M. WILCOX
July 19, 1947 – January 18, 2022
Newburgh, NY

Caleen M. Wilcox, of Newburgh, NY entered into eternal rest on January 18, 2022 at her home. She was 74 years old.

The daughter of the late Edward Burns and Marie (Dedicke) Burns, Caleen was born on July 19, 1947 in Newburgh, NY.

Our mother was incredible, with the biggest heart of anyone we knew. She welcomed all into her home, her heart, and her life, no matter who you were. She loved her family deeply, dedicating her life to her daughters, especially our beloved Kelly. She had a great love of the ocean, and dogs. She loved to read, cook for her family, and play with her grandchildren. She saw the good in everyone. Along with her warm, giving nature, our mom had a very witty, dry sense of humor. She was always ready (and willing!) with a smile, a wise crack, encouragement, or sage words of advice. Our mother instilled in us one paramount wisdom above all else: Roots and Wings. Roots, for we will always have her right here no matter what, but the wings to fly and explore and live to be ourselves, yet always able to return home, to her. With insurmountable sadness we mourn her, yet with profound joy we celebrate her life as we lay her to rest, at peace in Heaven above. She will be missed beyond what mere words could ever express. We love you, Mom.

Caleen is survived by her loving husband: David J. Wilcox and their dog, Mindy, at home; her daughters: Maria L. McGrady and her husband, Matt, of Newburgh, NY; and Amanda N. Brueckner, and her husband, George, of Newburgh, NY; Her grandchildren: Haley and MacKenzie; And Brother-in-law, Charles Wilcox, of Auburn, NY. In addition to her parents, Caleen was predeceased by her daughter Kelly Ann Wilcox in 2015.
