C. Joan Watson, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on April 5, 2019 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. She was 84 years old.
The daughter of the late Robert Price and Catherine (Cosgrove) Price, C. Joan was born on March 26, 1935 in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
C. Joan attended the Misericordia School of Nursing. She was a retired Nurse for the Fordham Prep. School in Bronx, NY.
She had been a resident of Yonkers an active Member of St. Paul the Apostle in Yonkers, NY before relocating to Cornwall, NY.
Joan was somebody to everybody in her family. She was a loyal mother and wife, a loving big sister, a wise Aunt, a doting Grammy, and the kind of friend friends looked forward to seeing for lunch. Joan showed up often to keep strong ties with her family. Her presence was often one of support, comfort, and kindness all delivered with a broad, proud smile. Even her eyes smiled. Joan loved many things, though shopping with her people was one of her favorites. Joan was a timeless, classy woman with a modest way about her. She leaned in to listen and shared many heart-to-heart conversations in her lifetime. She loved books, ice cream, drives into Pennsylvania and Pete Watson. She will be remembered as a cornerstone of her family, the steady, grounding force that pushed us all in the directions we dared to go. She will be greatly missed and eternally cherished.
In addition to her parents, C. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Peter F. Watson on March 18, 2016. She is survived by her children: Joan Marie & Donald Hartnett, Patty & John Marlow, Susie Dempsey, and Jill & Gary Weinman ; her grandchildren: Cody, Sean, Emily, Colm & Oriana, Jake, Harry, Peter, Tricia, Ryan, William, Connor and Ian; her siblings: Lois & Tom Patton, William Price & Karen Wilkie, Robert & Marilyn Price, James & Pat Price; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 8th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Tuesday, April 9th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Cremation will follow the Mass at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.
