February 1, 1984 – May 25, 2021
Larchmont, NY

Bryan J. Busch, 37, passed away on May 25, 2021 in Manhattan, NY after a long battle with brain cancer.

The son of the late Robert R. Busch and Suzanne (D’Alleinne) Busch, Bryan was born on February 1, 1984 in Stony Brook, NY.

Bryan was driven and defined by the most noble of virtues: integrity, resolve, warmth, and above all kindness. He found comfort in exploring the world through storytelling and music, sharing what he learned with old friends and new alike, always with wonder and curiosity that was infectious to those that loved him most.

His sense of humor was core to who he was and how he dealt with triumph and pain. Bryan was witty and always quick with an aside. His great sense of humor made him well-loved among the many who helped him battle his cancer head on, from his wonderfully funny sons who brought him so much joy, to his community of family and friends to the nurses and doctors who cared for him.

He loved his city, traversing the roads of Central Park on bicycle and by foot. He cared deeply about his fellow man. He was a passionate follower of politics and social causes, even pursuing a Master’s degree in public administration with the hopes of being able to put his considerable talent to use for the public good.

He married the love of his life, Marisa, in the summer of 2013, in a joyous celebration among friends and loved ones in Hudson, NY. What Bryan wanted most from the world was the gift of creating a family. Facing the most unforgiving of diagnosis, he and Marisa charted a course for affirming life; his own, their lives together, and soon after, those of their two beloved boys.

Bryan lived every day for his family. He knew more than anyone the meaning of a full day with those he loved most. He cherished every car ride to school with the boys, every summer day at the beach with Marisa, every visit with his family and friends.

His appreciation didn’t wane as he confronted the worst of his battles with his illness; instead his resolve grew stronger. He tolerated unknowable pain just to have another day with the family he loved so much. And through it all he fought longer and harder than anyone thought possible, and inspired everyone who knew his story.

As Bryan fought fiercely to combat his cancer, he was supported throughout by his wife, his 5-year old sons, his strong network of family and friends and by his community at AllianceBernstein.

He is dearly missed by his beloved family, his adoring friends, and all those he touched with his bravery and determination.

Bryan is survived by devoted wife: Marisa Busch; his loving children: Luke and Sawyer Busch; his sister: Adrienne (Busch) Davet; his brother: Douglas Busch (Amanda Keogan Busch); his mother-in-law: Phyllis Kaplan (Thomas Kelly); step mother: Kathy Busch; and his step sister Katey Hassan (Tamer Hassan). In addition to his parents, Bryan was predeceased by his brother-in-law: Donald Davet.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 6th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Due to the continued public health concerns of covid-19, please know that there is an occupancy limitation which may cause a wait time. Facial coverings must be worn in the funeral home at all times.

For anyone interested in making a memorial contribution, Bryan’s family has designated First Descents, an organization that provides life-changing, outdoor adventures for young adults impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions, for memorial contributions. Bryan went on a First Descents adventure in Montana in 2016.

Friends have also set up a GoFundMe page where donations can be made to support Marisa and the boys with a number of expenses and to look toward the future for Luke and Sawyer.
