Warwick, NY

Martin “Marty” T. Heimowitz of Warwick, NY entered into eternal rest on May 20, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY. He was 75 years old.

The son of the late Louis Heimowitz and Lillian (Rothstein) Heimowitz, Marty was born on October 10, 1942 in Jersey City, NJ.

Marty was a retired Supervisor for the MTA. Marty honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era as a VW4 Hurricane Hunter.

Marty was an avid craftsman with a particular love of woodworking. His greatest joy in life was his family; the love of his wife Marion, being a grandparent of eight, and his four-legged buddy, Charlie. Marty was also a proud recipient of a kidney transplant from his beloved wife.

Martin is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marion Heimowitz at home; his son: Larry Heimowitz and his wife Sharon of Monroe, NY and their children: Amy Heimowitz and Harrison Heimowitz; his daughters: Ellen Punim and her husband Dr. Todd Punim of Monroe, NY and their children: Dr. Aaron Punim and his fiancée Brittany Silverman, Danielle Punim and Ross J. Punim, and Barbara Backus and her husband Bill of Monroe, NY and their children: Allison Backus, Jillian Backus and Reid Backus; his life-long best friends: Harold and Shelley Wizanski.

A Graveside Service and interment with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd at 1 p.m. at Sharon Gardens Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Avenue, Valhalla, NY.

Shiva will be held at the home of Larry and Sharon Heimowitz, 11 Allison Drive, Monroe, NY. Shiva will open Wednesday following the interment and Thursday and Friday starting at 1 p.m.

Memorial Contributions in Martin’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
