Condolence From: Colonel Ray Celeste Jr. USMC (Retired)
Condolence: I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the extraordinary Jurgens' family. I first met Mr. Jurgens about 1969 when he was my coach of the Little Team Dodgers. I played outfield and he did ensure all of us played each game. He was very caring and paid great attention to detail when coaching us. We also had a number of practices where he drilled us and ensured we understood the basics of baseball. I cherish those memories. Mr. Jurgens was also my coach in Pop Warner when he coached the Cowboys. Again he ensured we understood the game and worked us hard and fairly during our practices. This helped me become successful in High School footbal ultimately becoming the co-captain of our HIgh School team my senior year. I will always be indebted to him for the countless hours he spent with all of his players. Mr. Jurgens had a wonderful way of connecting with all of his players. He was a very special and effective leader. I have thought of him many times in my adult life and credit him for helping to form me into the person I became as an adult which has made me successful. I did not know that Mr. Jurgens was a Marine like me and his wife, which makes our relationship even more special. I can not express my gratitude too much how thankful I am to him for his outstanding leadership. God bless him and his extraordinary family. Again, I send my sincere condolences to all of them. Semper Fidelis, Ray Celeste Jr. Colonel, U. S. Marine Corps (Retired)
