Obituary for Beverley V. "Bev" Hicks (Stewart)

BEVERLEY VERONICA HICKS
April 23, 1956 – October 10, 2020
New Windsor, NY formerly of Bronx, NY

Beverley Veronica Hicks, of New Windsor, NY entered into eternal rest at her home on October 10, 2020. She was 64 years young.

Beverley Hicks (Affectionately known as Bev) was born in St. Catherine, Spanish Town, Jamaica on April 23, 1956 to the late Winelda and Leonard Stewart. At an early age, Bev was adopted by the late Carmenta and Roy Allen; who raised her into a beautiful woman. Bev moved to New York where she graduated from Taft H.S.; then attended Bronx Community College.

After completing college, she began her career in office furniture dealing. She started out at American Home Products and moving on to Empire Office Furniture until April 2020. While working at American Home Products, she was drawn by the “calves and thighs” of Vincent Hicks (Bing), soon to be the love of her life. After dating for 3 months, she asked Bing to marry her. Threatened him by saying “I’m moving to Florida if you don’t marry me.” On May 14, 1980, they married and started their life journey together.

Bev was a loving and kind-hearted person to everyone she knew. Bev’s passions were spending time with her grand kids, sewing, cooking, reading, traveling, camping, hosting family events, quality family time and being the boss. Her favorite show to watch was Jane Eyre.

On October 10, 2020 the Lord called his angel home while she was pleasantly sleeping. Beverley leaves behind her loving husband Bing of 40 years; her son: Vincent Hicks, Jr. and his wife Lennis; her adoring grandsons: Jhaden and Ethan Hicks; and her niece, Luchanna Stewart (who was like a daughter to her). Siblings: Ratie Stewart, Eslyn Stewart, Dorrett Walters, Lorna McDonald, Donovan Stewart and Herrolyn Skeen. Deborah Chalmers was not just an in-law, but a little sister. She also leaves behind other brothers/sisters in law: Kenneth Chalmers, Julia Walker, Cornelius Hicks, Jesse Brandon, Idel Stewart and Iona Stewart. Lets not forget her best friend Sherri Bell and host of nieces, nephews and friends.
