Obituary for Arthur J. "Art" Quinlan

ARTHUR J. QUINLAN
May 10, 1947 – December 11, 2022
Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY

On Sunday, December 11th, Arthur John Quinlan, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home. He was 75.

Born in Newburgh, NY to the late Arthur Charles Quinlan and Mary Frances (O’Grady) Quinlan, he lived most of his life in the house built by his father in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Art served as Sergeant in the US Army Special Forces from 1966 - 1969, stationed in Okinawa and Vietnam. After his service, he graduated from Marist College with a degree in Business. During this time, he met the love of his life, his “sweetie” Marilyn. They married on August 6th, 1972, celebrating 50 years this August.

Art was a dedicated insurance agent and financial advisor with MetLife/Barnum Financial Group. He was well loved in the office, by both colleagues and clients. After 44 years with the company, he officially retired in February 2020 but continued to come into the office and meet clients at their homes nearly every day.

Art was a staple in the community, known for his signature smile, affable demeanor, and generous nature. For nearly 20 years, he volunteered his time running the PIT boy’s basketball league. His active and adventurous spirit led him to pursue scuba diving, skiing, kayaking, and earned him a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. An avid history buff, Art enjoyed touring the forts and historical sites of New York state, with a particular love for the Adirondacks. He could often be found reading history books or watching his favorite historical dramas.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Brodow) Quinlan; his sons Ryan Quinlan and Justin Quinlan; and his grandchild, Arlo Quinlan.
