Cornwall, NY

Anne (Hunt) Keegan, 83, a 55 year resident of Cornwall passed away on Thursday morning, February 11th after a short battle with cancer. Anne was born on March 16, 1937 in the Bronx, NYC, to Marcus Hunt and Anna (Kirsch) Hunt.

Annie B/Momma K. was a staple in the Cornwall community. She was a Member of the Highland Engine Co. #1, Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years, Orange County Ladies Auxiliary, Coldenham Ladies Auxiliary, Girls Senior Softball Manager, Cornwall Town Board Member, Republican Club Committee, 4th of July Committee, the Ancient Order of Hibernians and much more.

Anne attended Walden High School, where she excelled at basketball and volleyball, and graduated from Albany Business School. She worked many years as a Secretary for Active Specialty in Newburgh, NY and later was a Parts Manager at Kurland Cadillac in Nanuet, NY. Anne touched many, many lives. She loved watching her grandsons play baseball along with watching her NY Mets each and every night. Anne was brash and beamed with confidence and was tireless with her community work. If there was a party, Annie was the first there and last to leave.

Anne was predeceased by her husband Kevin of 58 years. She is survived by her son: Mark Keegan, daughter in law: Donna (Bielli) Keegan; and her grandsons: Justin and Max Keegan, all of Williamstown, NJ.

Due to the public health concerns of the Corona Virus (Covid-19) and winter weather conditions, a brief private Service will be held. Anne will be laid to rest by her loving husband at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall, NY.

Anne will definitely be missed! She had been 33 year member of the Ladies AOH as well as a longtime volunteer at the Cornwall Historical Society. She could put a smile on your face with her one-liners and I am sure that Heaven is enjoying her sense of humor.

Annie and I worked closely together for years on the Cornwall Independence Day Committee (CIDC), where she has been our Secretary, conscientiously recording, typing, and reading the minutes of every meeting, tracking attendance, and providing essential support for the annual election of officers. I do and will miss her greatly. As the CIDC historian, I have about 15 cartons of documents and memorabilia from the origins of Cornwall's Fourth of July celebration in 1950 through the present, and would welcome any contributions related to Anne or others. Sincere condolences to the family and other friends.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Anne was such a beautiful, kind woman with a wonderful Hibernian spirit. We shared quite a few stories and laughs together at LAOH events. I will miss her. I pray that she is at rest and enjoying her heavenly reunion with her loved ones. ~Ann Marie Mulholland, Orange County LAOH Secretary

Although I only knew Anne the last few years, I quite enjoyed her as my next door neighbor. We shared our love of dogs & of food. We talked quite often “over the porch rail”. I will surely miss her.
